After the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO withdrew from catering for participants in events held during Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2013, the catering contract was awarded to Taurakalnis. The company had placed second in the public tender and was therefore invited to sign the contract after the original winner withdrew.
A carefully designed menu, a selection of table decoration and setting options, and high-quality service will form a cohesive concept reflecting the key message of Lithuania’s EU Presidency: “Lithuania – Modern. Creative. Welcoming.”
When preparing Lithuanian and European dishes, priority will be given to ingredients grown and produced on Lithuanian farms. Taurakalnis has signed long-term supply agreements with local farmers. Lithuanian plants and flowers will also be used to decorate the tables, alongside traditional decorative elements such as Palm Sunday palms, bundles of flax and rye, amber, woven sashes, and linen tablecloths.
At official receptions, Taurakalnis will showcase the refined aesthetics and traditions of haute cuisine, using high-quality fabrics, tableware, cutlery, and decorative elements.
Participants in Lithuania’s EU Presidency events will be catered for at Vilnius Town Hall, the National Gallery of Art, the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, and other venues.
