The “Taurakalnis” waitstaff serving guests at events during Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2013 looked truly stylish. One of the country’s leading stylists, Kęstas Rimdžius, designed special uniforms for them: classic white shirts, black trousers and comfortable grey aprons adorned with buttons and an embroidered Taurakalnis logo. Woven traditional sashes created by folk artist Danutė Tamošaitienė were tied around their necks.
The uniforms were designed to reflect the overall concept of Lithuania’s EU Council Presidency, defined by the key words: “Lithuania—modern, creative and welcoming.”
At the National Gallery of Art, the spaces dedicated to lunches and coffee breaks were decorated with sheaves of rye and traditional straw ornaments. The tables were dressed with linen tablecloths and napkins, while the chair covers were made from the same natural fabric.
